2015 Australian Facetors’ Guild Annual Faceting Muster.
This event for AFG members is held annually at a location reasonably accessible to the majority of members. Over the past few years it has evolved from a weekend of educational activities into a 10 to 14 day event. Typical activities now include four days of faceting courses and/or faceting workshop, other lapidary related activities such as carving, silver jewellery making etc. Some days of fossicking to local gem bearing areas follow the two day weekend seminar. The purpose of the seminar weekend is to disseminate information on the latest trends in faceting and faceting equipment by way of educational sessions of approximately 30 to 45 minute duration. Other topics such as fossicking, map reading, competition procedures etc. are also covered from time to time. These sessions are conducted by members who are generous enough to share their knowledge and also by the occasional paid professional who is an expert in some topic that is of interest to facetors. The Annual General Meeting of the Guild is also held here on the Friday afternoon of the first week.
The program of activities for the 2015 event will be placed on this page about July when session presenters and tutors for the various courses are known.
In 2015 the event will be held once again at Glen Innes. Caravan and camping facilities will be available on the showground. The cost is $15.00 per night for a powered site and $12.00 per night un-powered. Other accommodation is available nearby in Glen Innes, details of which may be obtained by contacting the Glen Innes Tourist Information centre phone (02) 6730 240 or from their web site www.gleninnestourism.com
